Once ranked amongst the top ten golf courses in the world in several surveys, this course has become a disgrace. It has so much potential with a beautiful layout with great views. However, maintenance is non-existent, service very bad and they keep the price on a level based on their long-passed fame.
Grass in tee boxes is higher than in a normal rough, fairways are not maintained, every ball in the rough is a lost ball, greens are extremely bad and bunkers simply a joke. They charged me $50 green fee, but then they charge another $45 for a cart. And although I am a fan of walking, with temperatures of 35 degrees C on a course with poor direction signs that's not really an option. For that 45$ cart you do get quite a model though, an antique cart with a choke valve that hardly starts after each stop, without windshield and without rain cover for the clubs (and believe me in the rainy season in a tropical country that's not a luxury) and an tiny rusty basket for your stuff.
I couldn't pay by credit card because their machine was not working, paying in the hotel on the premise was not an option, taking my US dollar bills for a bad rate was the only way to pay.
So if you visit Tobago and want to play as many courses as possible, then accept the poor service, forget about descent golf and enjoy the views. If you want to play on a well-maintained course, visit the other golf course in Tobago.
