The Tobago Plantations Golf Course is the
centre-piece of the gorgeous Tobago Plantations Estate that includes the Magdalena Grand Beach & Golf Resort as well as luxury villas,
condominiums, and bungalows.
The Magdalena Grand Beach & Golf Resort has 178 deluxe oceanfront rooms and 22 suites,
all featuring breathtaking ocean views from large private balconies and terraces. There are 3 oceanfront swimming pools, golf, tennis, spa
services, guest activities, a kids club and all
types of Tobago excursions. Guests can also experience a wide range of dining choices.
The lush Par-72, 18-hole Tobago Plantations Golf Course has been woven into the landscape of an old coconut plantation that varies greatly throughout the course with lakes, woodland thickets, beaches, mangroves and wild grass, providing each hole with a very distinctive character. The course is a good test of the game for golfers of all levels.
The flat terrain of just over 7,000 yards has been sensitively modified to utilize indigenous plants and increase the habitat diversity for wildlife. There are characteristic pot bunkers sunk into the greensides and a Par 4 that heads out onto the peninsula where the Atlantic ocean breeze comes into play and golfers can enjoy panoramic views of Scarborough, the capital of Tobago, and the adjacent Atlantic Ocean. All holes have four tee positions.
In stark contrast to the coastline holes, others weave their way through mature Palm Trees and surrounding Mangroves. Artificial lakes and
wetlands have been created and developed to regenerate nature.
The course, which opened in 2001 and was upgraded in 2013, is PGA designed to Championship standards. It was designed by Bob Hunt and Marcus Blackburn of PGA Golf Management Ltd., the design, development and management arm of the Professional Golfers’ Association of Great Britain and Ireland. It is a certified member of the Audubon Co-operative Sanctuary System which is one of the environmental programmes offered by Audubon International. In addition, the club
has received certification for environmental planning.

Interesting, well maintained golf course. Good driving range on grass, but putting and chipping green might need some maintenance. The ondulated course itself is pretty well maintained,2 greens were not so good. Design of the holes is a bit unorthodox sometimes, with small fairways were you axpect them broad, some weird doglegs and good shots are not always rewarded. They also really encourage longhitters. Tee shots of 200 yard over water, and 3 out of 4 par 3's are over 180 yard long from blue. Layout of the holes is a bit chaotic, if you follow the carpath and with the map on your score card you get a long way, but some direction signs might be helpful. Long distances between the holes, so walking is not really an option. Views on the way are beautiful, so take some time to enjoy. I paid about 65 US$ including cart. Restaurant was closed for lunch when I was there, but snacks and drinks are available at pro shop. Friendly service
