With views to take your attention from your golf, this course in New Zealand is great value and one I would love to pay again. The course is 18 holes with most of it enjoying sparkling views of the sea in the Bay of Islands and the remaining holes carved into natural bush and lovely planted treelined fairways. There are some very challenging holes with damns and water hazards and one hole having the sea shore directly behind the green, bringing it into play for the long hitters. The staff in the pro shop were very friendly and helpful, finding us the correct style of clubs to hire and although we didn’t have time to enjoy the clubhouse, it looked good from the outside with views over the course to the sea. A good one to add to the bucket list at an affordable price.

Waitangi GC is again a golf course where members and volunteers plays an important role to keep golf affordable in the area. And I must say they did a great job. For greenfee of NZ$ 60 you can choose from various tee-box length from 5300 to 6000m. Visitors are most welcome and staff ensures you get all info you asked for. The course is well maintained with bunkers, water hazards and large trees around the fairway makes it looks more narrow from a distance. The greens are nice and undulated but if you putting well you get rewarded. The Slogan " where the Ocean meets the Tee" is very true as with strong winds be careful not to be blown in the ocean, not true of course but you tee-off close to the water. The clubhouse is nice and between hole 9 and 10 so a quick bite or drink after 9 holes possible.
By talking to the members nice information is obtained about your travel and re-routing your plans due to local information.
